Jumping into a puddle

This is the video of the song “Hoppipolla” of Sigur ros, an Icelandic post-rock band.  Hoppipolla means “jumping into a puddle” and talks about how simple life is when you are a child how you can have fun with simple things like spinning in circles, getting dirty, having imaginary adventures, jumping into puddles, making mischief no matter what, how the time passes by very slow playing with friend and how much you enjoyed it.  I love the fact that the song talks about childhood, but in the video we can watch old people playing as children and having a lot of fun, and that makes me thing of how we still having a child within us, and sometimes we forget that, that child is the spark that makes us enjoy life and makes us see things in a different special way, like children do.

I have to admit that I spend a month loving this song without knowing what it was about (because it’s in Icelandic), but it makes me feel something anyway because of the melody and video as well. Sigur ros have a lot of songs like this one with good melodies that make you think and feel a lot, without knowing what they are talking about, they even once released an album that included songs in an invented unreadable language in a way of challenging people to feel their music as they want, so now I invite you to hear another songs of Sigur ros and just hear them, because to me they are sometimes a cure for the soul.
Hope you enjoy it :)

Is it real working, what do you do for the world?

Nobody can do a radical change in the world, but we can make social integration on the first step. You can do it anytime, with your friends or people you know, everyday are news about attacked people by xenophobia, racism, or just for being poor (or vagabond). When we born, we don't have the opportunity to choose the skin tone, contexture, or height. What would you do if you can choose?

Many times our family doesn't care about it, but it is a projected feeling. The advertising, vogue, and also the toys are some factors to that kind of behavior in the people. Everyday we are in exposure by that kind of situation, the diversity is normal, and is our obligation to give a cultural diversity vision and information about it to people in formation. The children in that video without awareness give a position that the adult people talks about, just because they are their examples to follow. They don't really know what they are talking about but they are sure to say it: Black people is poor, they steal things, and they are the workers, and the white people are rich, they don’t do anything and they are the beautiful people. That’s that we watch in the movies, or in the TV spots but there are many contrasts in the real life. In places like guettos exists people of many types of skin color, they were belonging to different types of social class.

On the streets when we see vagabonds, we give money to them, because they are asking for it and all we get is that we have a good feeling, because we are “good persons”, but we all know what is the purpose about it, buy things like: alcohol, drugs, cigarettes. That’s not a benefit for them, that destroy them, and they don’t have money for health, finally that action don’t change their social situation. Where are the organizations that help to these people? Sometime you talked with a vagabond, you heard his history, you tried to understand the situation? They all had a life like the us but by a certain factors they arrive to these place, and they don’t have a way to return.

When we know a foreign person with blond hair we give all of us to make relations, but isn’t the same with black people or the people on the streets (vagabonds).

We are all humans, What do you have that they don’t have? The differences are in our minds, It depends on us change that thought.

THE SPECIALS

What do you think that we can do to change that thoughts in children?

Oasis - Stop Crying Your Heart Out

This is maybe my favourite song, I say maybe because my I don't really have one. This is Oasis's Stop Crying Your Heart Out. Oasis is a british band that is known because of being pioneer in britpop and indierock. One the most known hits is 'Wonderwall', which pushed the band to world fame.

I like this song, first of all, because of the sound. Even though the music rythm is slow, I do like it. Also I love the lyrics of the song. They say that you don't have to worry about sad things, and what happens arround you, you are not alone, here are your friends to make you happy. Just be yourself and go on.

F**ckin' Perfect

Fucking Perfect is a song written by Pink, an American singer that is known for her edgy pop music. She has always written songs about controversial subjects, but i chose a song that talks  about how perfect you are no matter the mistakes you make, no matter what happens in your life, no matter what other people say.

The message in this song is very strong. Society will always set parameters of how you should  look like, how you should act, how you should live your life. You have to be beautiful, conformed, social, etc. Yet we will always have flaws, we will always make mistakes, so pink comes to tell us:
"Pretty, Pretty please, dont you ever, ever feel, Like you're less than, fucking perfect"
Dont be who others want you to be, because you are nothing less than perfect just the way you are, and dont let anyone tell you otherwise.

I love how the video reflects exactly what she wants to say. Shows a girl that since she was young she havent found her place, she has always been the "wierdo". But even tho she made mistakes, such as drug abuse, shop lifting, even a suicide attempt, she was strong enough to stand up, tell herself that she is perfect, and get her life straight.
The video makes Pink's words stronger and helps the song have a bigger impact on the person thats listening.

Embrace the person you are, because the person you are is fucking perfect!

Looking forwards to reading your comments.  I hope you enjoy the video as much as i do.

When you go away

One of my favorites songs is Dark paradise by Lana del Rey, the song is about the feling that you have when you lose someone, it could be your lover, your father or your mother, it doesn't matter, that feeling is so horrible, you can hardly stand on your feet.

I think that people can see this song just as a woman who lost her lover, but I see more than that,  the song is about the feling that you have when you lose someone, it could be your lover, your father or your mother, it doesn't matter, that feeling is so horrible, you can hardly stand on your feet.

For me this song tells me that we have to enjoy every time that we have with the people that we love because we can lose them anytime, and nobody is going to replace them.

It's also tell me that it is hard to move on, to stay strong, because the person that is gone takes a litle bit of your heart, of your love, of your thoughts, and I think that's why is so difficult to overcome the pain.

Did you ever felt that way? not necessarily someone who's dead, maybe someone that go away and you never saw him or her again... or maybe someone that you still see but something make you change and you don't feel that person like you used to...

Los adolescentes - Dënver

Los adolescentes, this is the second single video from the album "música, gramática, gimnasia" of the Chilean group Dënver. When I watch this video I can feel all my youth flowing through my veins. This video has such beautiful scenes that makes me feel comfortable with, people like me, enjoy their youth to the fullest, with activities as simple as spending an afternoon with friends, or horseback riding. I feel very identified with the whole video, and I think, besides showing the essence of the adolescence, a young person who sees the video feels very represented while  an adult yearns to return to those times.

I don't know if the video delivers some value, I personally see it as a life lesson based on the Latin expression: "Carpe diem" what means "seize the moment" or "live every moment of your life as if it were the last ". I think this message is aimed not only to teenagers but also to adult people who are much locked in their problems, and forget to enjoy the day by day, so this video is a way to remember them, how funny and beauty it's life, when we don't worry and just enjoy.

What most catches my attention is the simplicity of the images, in all, some very simple and very beautiful activity is represented, which leads to a good time you remember doing something similar, or just invites you to enjoy a moment wanting as nice as those presented in the video, for example when the girls play with the vacuum cleaner (that's my favorite), or each other's hair is braided.

I won't kill myself trying to stay in your life...

There are sometimes when you are full of problems, feeling unable to solve them. You look for a way to escape, to run. But life is a rocky road and the will to escape from our problems is not always enough to make it happen. There are sometimes when we have got No Distance Left to Run.

That’s one of the messages British band “Blur” gave us in their song No Distance Left to Run, which talks about the end of Damon Albarn –lead singer of the band- and his girlfriend Justine Frischmann’s relationship.

The video of the song show us each member of the band sleeping in their respective bedrooms and that’s it. No, seriously. Are you wondering what’s so special about this video then? Its simplicity. Recorded with night-vision cameras, the video evokes a feeling of numbness, tranquility; it makes you think about your own problems. Maybe you haven’t lived the break of a relationship, but the lyrics can catch your attention because of its more underlying meaning: We cannot always forget or keep to ourselves our problems; we have to let them out.

Obviously, it wouldn’t be an interesting video if the song itself wasn’t good. Beautiful yet painful is the best way to describe it. A bluesy guitar riff with melancholic lyrics, you can almost feel the grief of Damon Albarn in your skin. Even Albarn himself has stated that No Distance Left to Run it’s one of the most personal songs of the band.

However, Damon is not very friendly with telling all about his life in his lyrics, just as he said to an interview in 1999 to music magazine, The Face; there are some things we should keep to ourselves. That being said, we can assume the breaking really affected Albarn, making him want to write about it.

Enjoy the video and also try to think about similar situations that have happened to you.
There was a time when you had no distance left to run?
